The $7,037,595 BNP Paribas Open at Indiana Wells has reached its final rounds. On day 9 of the event, fans will have the opportunity to see two quarter finals.
World number one, Novak Djokovic is going up against world number seven, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. After that, we have a match between world number four Rafael Nadal from Spain and world number five Kei Nishikori.
Both the matches are going to be very tough. Nadal has won 27 ATP Masters 1000 titles but just three of those have come at Indiana Wells. On the other hand, Novak has won a record four BNP Paribas.
So he certainly knows the conditions well. If he wins this time, he would have prevailed at Indiana Wells for the fifth time.
Nadal is fresh off a win against Alexander Zverev. But Nishikori is no push over either. He defeated ninth seed John Isner without conceding service breaks.
Nadal has a 7-1 head on head record against Nishikori, but then the Japanese man beat him in their last encounter in Montreal. Given Nadal’s recent history with injuries, you can say he has his job cut out for him. Novak is also in a difficult spot against Tsonga.
Novak has a 14-6 record against the Frenchman but then Tsonga has also beaten Novak twice in this level. So both matches are going to be keenly contested. Who will you bet your money on?
